New Website Launch
PEAT, the Northern Ireland Autism Charity providing behaviour support province-wide, today launched their new website www.peatni.org, made possible through funding from the Big Lottery Fund with the support of Belfast’s Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon.
The new site has extensive content designed to provide the right information about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and effective evidence-based intervention for both parents and professionals with a fresh new look to make the site user-friendly. It boasts a modern design with sections for parents and professionals colour coded for easy use with each page providing detailed information about PEAT and the services provided by appropriately qualified professionals.
Autism is the most prevalent disability in the UK. Â In the past decade there has been a nearly tenfold increase in the number of children diagnosed with and ASD.
“We are aware that parents may be overwhelmed upon receiving an autism diagnosis and may not know where to turn for information. Our goal in designing the new site was to create a source of reliable information so that parents can make informed decisions as well as letting those involved with individuals autism know about the services PEAT can provide to support them†said Lynsay Mulcahy, PEAT Development Officer.  Â
In addition to launching their new website PEAT also marked the occasion by hosting their first ever Angel Awards to give recognition to those involved with the charity. Recipients included their collaborative partners Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Ulster as well as to parents for their dedication and hard work with their children applying the science of Behaviour Analysis.
PEAT exists to help individuals with autism realise their potential by providing training and support in Applied Behaviour Analysis, the scientifically proven approach, tailored to individual needs, offering a choice to parents and professionals.
